MISSION SILVER MARKET 4304 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94112 I've been coming in here weekly to buy my lottery tickets from them, but recently the owner of this store has given me a REAL GOOD REASON why I should NEVER come here anymore... 😳 What was going to be just a routine visit to pick up some lottery tickets, turned out to be a goddamn HORROR SHOW. I tried to be NICE, and I tried to be UNDERSTANDING... But that didn't really work tho. And now, they are gonna PAY THE PRICE!!! The other day, I tried to redeem the $2 from the winning numbers on my lottery ticket. I was hoping that they would give me 2 free plays. I'm sure that anyone who sells lottery tickets in the Bay Area would all HOPE that their customers will WIN. That's because ANY stores where winning lottery tickets were sold at, will also receive at least 5% of the total prize money. Whether it was only 10 cents or even 100 grand, hey at least you guys would also be getting PAID if any of your customers won. I went up to the counter, and politely explained that I might have 2 winning numbers on my lottery ticket (1 number + 1 mega), and then asked nicely if I could have 2 free plays. The store owner got right up from his seat, and yelled: "DON'T WASTE MY FUCKING TIME, ASSHOLE!!!" in like the meanest and rudest tone ever. All I ask, was for them to help me check if I had actually won anything or not. When I tried to explain that to him as nicely as I could, he just got real angry and yelled: "GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY STORE, YOU MOTHERFUCKER!!!" I was totally shocked with his response. There were NO other customers in the store, and it didn't seem like they were busy. He just totally lost his SHIT, and got hella angry/pissed at me for NO apparent reason whatsoever. I already had my money out, and intended to purchase MORE additional plays from him whether if I had won anything or not. But that just didn't seem like it was gonna happen at this point. So, I just politely said: "OK sir, thanks anyway and sorry for causing you any trouble... Goodbye!" In response, he just GLARED right at me like a SHEIKH. Staring DEATH right at me, and threatening me with those evil eyes of his. He was also breathing HELLA HARD, like as if he was about to burst an artery or something. As I turned around and left the store quickly, I heard him SWEARING and CUSSING at me in a foreign language that I couldn't understand. I could still hear him yelling and swearing at me VERY LOUDLY even after I got outside, and went to the bus stop ACROSS THE STREET to wait for the 14 Mission. There were several other people who were also waiting for the bus with me, and I think even THEY heard him screaming just like a goddamn ANIMAL. The way that these people were looking around with their eyes wide-open, told me that I was NOT hearing things. It was a strange mixture of loud cussing with demonic laughter; like as if he was POSSESSED by evil spirits or something. Yeah, kinda like a vicious dog barking mixed with a deep guttural growl, if ya will. Like a "MWU-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAR!!!" kinda noise. I couldn't quite make out the words, but it sure sounded SCARY tho! Just really strange and bizarre behavior, coming from a guy who runs a convenience store in the hood. I don't understand any Arabic or Indian, but based on his rude body language + his strange crazy behavior; I kinda got the 'message' that he does NOT want OR need my business. And based on what other Yelpers have said, I'm also getting the 'impression' here that this crazed store owner may even harbor some RACIST attitudes towards folks of color. Motherfucker must HATE black and brown folks or somethin'. There's just NO WAY IN HELL that I would ever believe all those positive reviews. The food ain't fresh, the prices are steep, the lights are dim, and the floors are all wet/oily/sticky like they haven't been mopped in DECADES. The milk is expired, the eggs are rotten, the soda bottles leak, the potato chips be all crushed, and the bread has flies in it. Moldy-ass beef jerky, and fungus-ridden candy bars. Some of the canned foods here were even packaged from 2002. There is feces, urine, vomit, and broken glass like all over the storefront, and NOBODY ever bothers to clean it up. I've even seen a few RATS scurrying around lately. I can tell that business was going pretty slow; because time and again, I cannot manage to ever find ANYTHING that was even worth purchasing at this store. While that might not necessarily be the root cause of why he was so mean and rude to me; it might probably explain a few things. I'm just left here wondering, what all of that weird crazy shit was all about? If you're not even sane in the head, nor even willing to operate at that level, then maybe you should just pack up your store and get the hell out of San Francisco?! Between 2001, and 2013, I traveled to and through SF. on a dozen occasions. it was always on Market St, and not far from the Mission precinct. Being a big walker it was nothing for me to traverse all the way from Chinatown, down to Fisherman's Wharf, then back along the waterfront to the ferry terminal and back up to my lodgings. In those sojourns, you'd encounter (as you do in any big city) people who down on their luck, and there'd be someone here or there huddled up in a disused store front. And of course there were some junkies hanging around. But what I spy in RUclipss over the past 2 years is akin to being in a por part of Mumbai. I'm 70 years of age now, and circumstances prevent me from traveling too much like I did in prior days.
